Description 'Water Bird' was my first experiment with what would happen if I let go of the results of my drawing. If I got out of the way. I love this piece because it gave me the freedom to create without worry about the outcome.
Chris Theisen Beebe, Chicago, IL Member Since February 2007 Artist Statement There is something that takes place when I draw that is quite metaphoric to how I aspire to live. The moment I let go of the outcome of the piece is the moment I am no longer the artist...I am simply the conduit allowing the art to flow through me. My best works are those that happen during this release. I am frequently in awe of how effortless my art becomes and how it makes no difference which pencil I use or the type of paper, etc. The perfect piece is created through me not because of me. When I begin to believe that I am responsible for the outcome of the art, the piece becomes forced and I struggle.
